Baby Names

Because Rob and I are not going to find out the gender of the baby, we have had to agree on a name for each gender. As much as he lobbied for Dale for a boy (after his great hero Dale Earnhardt), I just could not bring myself to do that to our son. He also wanted John, but his father is John as well as his step-brother and my cousin, so it would just be too confusing. The only way I have been able to keep the name from being Dale or John is to agree to another family name, which is Thomas. I had my qulams about it at first because he has a cousin named Thomas, but we could agree on no other name so if it is a boy he will be Thomas Robertshaw Eynon. (For those of you who don't know Robertshaw is Rob's middle name and has been passed down for a few generations.)
Naming the girl was much easier. Rob had heard the name Lorelei on a song even before we were having the baby and it was decided that would be our first daughter's name. If the baby is a girl, she will be Lorelei Joan Eynon. (Joan is Rob's grandmother's name.) My mom does not like Lorelei at all, so if she calls her Lulu or some other random name that is why.
Now that we have decided upon names, we only have to wait to see if we are going to have a Thomas or a Lorelei.

Baby Eynon Ultrasound

We had the baby's first ultrasound today. We had the opportunity to have a video made as well as pictures (pictures will be posted later). My mom and Rob were with me. The ultrasound lady was awesome at not letting us know the sex of the baby. My mom wanted to know, but the nurse said that if I didn't want to know then no one would know. It was exciting being able to see the baby. It is six ounces at 17 1/2 weeks along. The baby is healthy and hiccuping as we saw on the ultrasound, making it difficult for us to hear the heartbeat, but we eventually did. The total video was about 3 minutes, but uploading was slow so only 2 parts are here. I may upload the rest later.

At Work

So I'm sitting at work bored again and decided to start a blog since everyone else seems to have one. Since being moved from the lab I have a lot of free time on the computer. Usually I play games or surf the net but after four months that has gotten old. Not being in the lab is a definite downfall during this pregnancy. Apparently I am too efficient. They expected me to take much longer to do all the filing that needed to be done when I first moved upstairs. I do benefit from having my own office; however, it is visited daily by the big dogs because their mailboxes are in here as well as several filing cabinets. The other four people I work with share an office so I can't complain too much about that. At least I don't have someone looking over my shoulder when I don't have anything productive to do. By the end of this pregnancy I'll be dying to go back to the lab.
