It was tough getting back into it, but after the exams this past week I think I am getting back into the swing of things. Lorelei goes to stay with Pops while I do my classes and she has learned to pull the stool around the counter and steal drink from Granny. Granny has been on a diet and is only drinking water now, so Lorelei is not having as much luck anymore. She enjoys eating white donuts as much as Gabe did when he was her age, only she makes a much bigger mess as shown by the hand print next to her on the couch and the white mouth.
We went to eat Mexican with Pops one day and Lorelei found a new way to eat her salsa. She will eat maybe one chip with salsa and then she just wants the salsa.
We went back to eat Mexican for Granny's birthday in January and Lorelei decided since she didn't have a straw that she would just drink the salsa. Granny bought her this hat and when she gave it to her she wouldn't take it off. She has even worn it on days that have been pretty warm.
This past month, my parents dog had puppies. My dad had the feeling that he should put a light and some straw in the dog house and the next morning he went out and saw that Ginger had had 10 puppies. Lorelei has claimed this black one (with white paws) for herself and named her Cocoa. She says that all the white ones are mommy's puppies. When Pops starts to give the puppies away I don't know what she is going to do. We will probably bring Cocoa home, but she is going to be very disappointed that there are no more white puppies!
One weekend we went to Asheville for me to go a conference for some pharmacy meetings. I have to get in hours each year for school. The hotel we stayed in, Grove Park Inn, was huge! It even had a spa that several people visited for massages and loved, but Rob and I prefer that other people not touch us. Lorelei made herself at home as soon as we got there by climbing into the bed. She also loved jumping on it! Asheville isn't the best place to take a young kid, especially when it is raining, but Rob took her swimming one morning at the indoor pool and she loved that. We also went to eat at a great restaurant called Tupelo Honey Cafe. I had some great shrimp and grits and Rob had homemade tomato soup and with a grilled cheddar cheese sandwich. I also took Lorelei out to get ice cream at The Hop. She ate all of her chocolate ice cream and I had a salty caramel. It was sweet, but really good.
This past week while I studying, Rob insisted that I come see what Lorelei was doing. Of course I went. He had set up some pillows and blankets on the floor so that she could "fly" onto them. She was jumping off of the couch and landing on them. She would even just fall right off onto them. She kept doing it again and again. Every time she would jump she was something else: Nemo, a dragon, a parrot, penguin, pigeon, rooster, and any other bird Rob could think of. We still have them set up because now she thinks she can just jump off the couch whenever she wants.

I am now 35 weeks pregnant and the countdown has begun to March 1! Just in time for spring break. We have planned our C-section and now we just have to make sure we are ready. Before the baby comes I have several exams to take, so I am praying the baby will wait until the set date. Still no boy name, but I am hoping that if it is a boy I will know what to name him when I see him. I hope Lorelei takes having a new baby around well. As long as she doesn't pull the baby around like she pulls those puppies around I think we will be okay. It is hard to believe we are a little less than a month away from having another baby, but I am definitely ready to be done with being pregnant and can't wait to meet him/her.

December 2011

It has almost been 2 years since my last post. I can't believe it! Lorelei and being in pharmacy school has kept me busy, so now that I have a few weeks off I thought I would add a new post. Lorelei is now 2 and baby #2 will be here at the beginning of March!

We started off December by enjoying a parade in Hartsville. It was a pretty cold day, so we bundled Lorelei in her purple scarf and pink gloves. She was so thrilled to have a purple scarf like a snowman in a video she watches on You Tube.

I have a difficult time getting Lorelei to smile when I have her dressed up, so this is one of my favorite pictures. She woke up at quarter to five Christmas morning and noticed her new kitchen from Santa. She also got a new Little People's Pirate ship from Santa. She had many more presents, but I won't list them all. She loved opening presents (except for clothes) and still asks to open them. Rob got a metal detector (exactly what he asked for), a video game, a headlamp and dress pants for church. I got a GPS, which will definitely be needed when my mom and I drive to Nebraska next summer! I am glad Christmas is over, but not looking forward to starting school again. I have enjoyed my time off with Lorelei and I am not sure how things are going to go when the baby comes, but I think it will all work out!

January

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; I am amazed at how much she has grown. In January, we had another doctor visit. Rob refused to go to see Lorelei have shots again, so I took the morning off work and took her to the doctor. He said she was doing great and that she was beyond where she should be at four months. After the doctor saw her, the nurse came in to give Lorelei her shots. She screamed and screamed, but I still took a picture. We found out that she was 12.5 lbs and 24.5 inches long. We finally moved her up into 3-6 month clothing, which was big, but her 0-3 month clothing was getting to short. Lorelei began rolling over during January too. She had previously rolled, but she really started rolling in Jan. The biggest problem is that she rolls from back to front easily but cannot always get rolled back onto her back. I finally have been able to get some good pictures of her smiling. I am not the best photographer, but I try. Lorelei has also wanted to sit up more. She tries to lift up but can't do it. She absolutely loves her fingers and has also found her toes. She lifts them up and tries to eat them. She still loves staying with Grandpa Rickie and her dad while I work. They take great care of her and I am so glad we have been able to avoid putting her into daycare.
We also made a trip to Charleston in Jan. to visit Grandma Joan. It was a nice relaxing visit. It rained all day the Saturday we were there, so we stayed in and enjoyed the fireplace.
January was also an eventful month for me because I cut off 10+ inches of my hair to donate to Locks of Love. It was hard for me to do, but after Lorelei had my hair with both her hands and a foot, I knew it had to go and I love the new do. I can't pull it back into a ponytail, but it I have been enjoying it because it takes much less time to wash and dry.

Christmas 2009

So now that the Thanksgiving post is done I'll move on to Christmas. Maybe I'll actually catch up with this thing at some point. Christmas was celebrated a week early with my family. All of my brothers and sister were in town with their families. Kashelle and Kailey finally were able to meet Lorelei. Kailey was jealous that Gabriel had met her before she did, but she was still happy to see her. I think she was even more happy to spend time with Gabriel. Their favorite game whenever we were there was "GET ROB." They loved attacking him and playing Hide and Seek with him too. Another hit was Jason's Rock Band. He got Beatles Rock Band as a Christmas present and we stayed up late (for me) playing that. The kids had a lot of fun and received a lot of presents. Even Lorelei got a lot of stuff from everyone. She loves all the toys she got and we love the clothes and wipes. Alane and Chris came for only one day and Alane loved holding Lorelei, but every time she would hold her she would cry, so the week I had off my mom and I took Lorelei to Columbia to visit Aunt Alane and Uncle Chris. It was good to spend time with family and we are planning to go up to visit Kashelle, Stephen, and Kailey in the spring.
For actual Christmas day, we stayed home. Rob and I exchanged gifts that morning and opened a couple of things for Lorelei. My parents and grandma came out and we had steak for dinner. It was delicious. It always is when Rob makes it. The rest of the afternoon we relaxed and enjoyed the day.

Thanksgiving 2009 and Shots

<img style="cursor: pointer; Grandma Sandy and Grandpa John Eynon came into town from Michigan. They were going to head to Charleston when they came down first, but we were going to have Lorelei's blessing, so they visited us in Florence. We went to dinner and enjoyed spending time together. They love their granddaughter and can't wait to see her again. Rob gave Lorelei her blessing. In it she was blessed with good health, a sweet spirit, the ability to know good from evil and that she would share the gospel with others. Grandma Terry bought Lorelei her blessing dress and Great-Grandma Juanita bought her a white blanket.
That week we went to Charleston for Thanksgiving with the Eynons. We enjoyed visiting with all of them. We played scrabble with Rob's dad and Sandy and his sister and her husband. On Thanksgiving day we got together with all the cousins and had a feast. Lorelei was loved on, especially by her second cousin Haley. While we were in Charleston Grandma Sandy made her some awesome hats and that we still have her wearing.
Lorelei actually had her first shots before Thanksgiving. Her daddy took her in for them and swore he wasn't going again because it broke his heart to have her cry. He did take a picture of her with her band-aids, so she did survive. She was a little down that night but the next day she was back to herself. During this time she also found her hands and started chewing on them. She began smiling really well too. Lorelei really loves having her clothes off and if all else fails when she is crying that is exactly what we do and she usually calms right down.

Lorelei - 2 Months Old

I can't believe Lorelei is already two months old. She is growing like a weed. She has begun to look at her hands in the last week. When she is in a good mood she will lie on her play mat and swing her arms. When she hits any of her toys that make noise she gets so excited and flails her arms and legs even more and makes all sorts of happy noises. During the last month, she celebrated her first Halloween. We dressed her up and a frog and I went as the princess. Rob went as a hippie and won tackiest costume while Lorelei got a prize for being one of the cutest kids. Lorelei's favorite place is her changing table. She absolutely loves lying on it. She coos and moves her arms and legs. We also put her in a swing, but she does not always enjoy being in it. Lorelei will also hold one of her rattles and I watch her the whole time she has it because she throws her arms all over the place and I feel like she will hit herself in the head. She likes to grab other things as well such as my hair and people's shirts. We have begun reading to her and she loves when I read Dr. Suess's Green Eggs and Ham. She even looks at the pictures on each page. Her neck is getting stronger and one of these days she'll begin to hold her head up, but she is not quite capable of keeping it up on her own. She has begun to like her baths too. She especially likes coming out and being wrapped up in her towels.

I enjoy dressing Lorelei up. She wears Rob out some days. He doesn't stay up as late as he used to and he does not have time for naps. She likes to sleep in the mornings and usually stays awake most of the afternoon while he is home. She is also spoiled rotten so that if she isn't dead asleep if we try to put her down her little eyes pop wide open and she won't go back to sleep unless someone is holding her. We have a carrier that we use to walk her in and that helps put her to sleep too. She loves being walked around. Rob or I will walk her down to Aunt Susie and Uncle Bobby's and she falls asleep most of the time before we make it there. Rob will also walk her around in the field outside. Lorelei is also a good shopper. My mom and I have taken her with us several times and she either sleeps or looks around in awe. Lorelei has been a great blessing in our lives and we are grateful for her everyday.

Lorelei - 1 Month Old

Lorelei is now a month old. She is growing so fast. When we first brought her home she had no fat on her and now she is pudgy everywhere. She is probably about 7 lbs now. She outgrew her preemie clothes after two weeks, but the newborn clothes were still big. Actually some of them are still big for her, but others fit fine. She likes to look and people and my mom thinks she talks to her, but I think she is only hearing herself because as much as she talks to Lorelei, the baby wouldn't have time to get a word in. We have heard her coo, but whether that is just noise or actual delight I don't know. Lorelei does not like bath time at all. She screams her little head off no matter who gives her the bath. I think it is because she gets cold and we just haven't mastered it yet.

My brother, his wife, and son came and brought her this butterfly toy for her car seat. It makes noise and crinkles. She enjoys the noise it makes and will follow it with her eyes now. They also gave her this book for pictures, but where the pictures go are black and white designs that in the last week she has begun to stare at. They gave her a rubber duck too that my nephew tried to get her to play with. While he was here he also asked if she could walk and talk.

She also likes to look at people. Rob says she sometimes only wants to be with me because she'll cry with him and then he gives her to me and she stops immediately. She will sleep in her bassinet, but sometimes she has to sleep with someone holding her or next to me or Rob. She has had gas several times over the last week and does not like to be put in her bassinet then. I'm amazed that she has slept 5-7 hours some nights in the last week or two. I didn't expect that for another month or two. She likes the car and sleeps every time we go anywhere. During the day she eats 2-3 ounces about every three hours. One day while I was changing her, she had not finished pooping and when it came out, it shot 2-3 feet across the room. Another day while lying next to Rob on the couch, she managed to pee on the couch and on Rob without getting herself wet at all. Lorelei loves to stretch and she always keeps her hands next to her head. She's like her dad because she sticks out her tongue a lot. I love to watch her sleep because her face shows the whole spectrum of emotions from sadness to happiness. She even gets the wrinkled forehead that makes her look angry and she has a pouty face that is adorable. Rob and I love her so much and are glad to have her in our lives even if we are cranky when she wakes us up after we have only been a sleep a couple of hours.

It's a Girl!

Lorelei Joan Eynon was born September 14, 2009 at 5:40 pm. She weighed in at 4 lbs. 13 oz and was 19 in. long. I went in for an ultrasound because on a previous visit my doctor believed she was breech. We did find out she was breech, but we also found out I had very little amniotic fluid; therefore, we had to be admitted for a C-section. I never noticed my water break, so I am glad that everything was okay. We waited monitoring her heartbeat all day because they don't like to do an epidural/spinal until 8 hours after a person has eaten. Fortunately I had only eaten breakfast and skipped my mid-morning snack due to my doctor's appointment. We had a few scary moments when her heartbeat dropped a couple of times, so the nurses moved me so they could monitor me a little closer because if it continued to drop I would be taken immediately for the c-section, but everything went fine so I waited my turn. I was scared to death of having a c-section but I knew it was the only way to ensure the safety of the baby, which at that point was my only concern. Nothing in the birth went as I thought it would. I had planned on not having an epidural and having my baby naturally, but I believe the Lord knew what was best for me and everything turned out much better than I expected it to. We were able to have Lorelei in the room with us for a couple of days when we found out she was unable to hold her temperature where it should be. We spoke with a neonatal doctor (Dr. Bridges) who told us this was most likely because she had no brown fat, but because of the situation he ran a thyroid test and did a CT scan and both came back good. In order to regulate her temperature, they put her in an incubator and started the temperature around 32-33 degrees C. As she maintained her temperature the nurses moved the temperature on her bed back 0.3-0.5 degrees. During this time, Rob and I could only hold her for 30 minutes a day and then she had to be back in the box. Sunday night she was able to be put in a regular bed and if she holds her temperature for 48 hours we will be able to bring her home tomorrow (Wed.) morning. I know other mothers have to keep their babies in the hospital for much longer than we have and I am fortunate to have been able to hold her at all. I still wish my baby had been able to come home with us the day I had to come. I can say that has been one of the most difficult days I have ever had, but I am grateful that she is keeping her temp and we will have her home soon. I am recovering well from the surgery and probably doing more than I should. We are grateful for our little girl Lorelei and love her very much. She is a blessing in our lives and we look forward to growing with her.

Lorelei with her dad and mom.

Grandma and her new granddaughter.

Nursery is done!

I was worried that the room was not going to be finished because the wall was looking like this picture about two weeks ago and we did not have a floor in the room either. I had already begun painting, so I was not too worried about that part being done. We decided on yellow paint since we do not know the baby's gender. Rob may have rather had orange, but we both think the yellow turned out well.

Now we have everything in place. The crib with the jungle quilt, sheets and bumper pads, the changing table and a dresser full of clothes (as well as some in the closet). We would have preferred a farm themed nursery, but the crib set for that was more expensive and online only, so we settled for the jungle stuff, which is cute too. I bought the curtain from Wal-Mart and the color matches the jungle crib set better than I thought it would. My mom helped me pick it out and she had never even seen the crib bedding.

And all of this happened in my 38th week. At my doctor's appointment this week I found out the baby is not in the head down position, which is disappointing, but it does still have time to flip. Monday we have an ultrasound to determine the baby's exact position as well as approximate way. I have my fingers crossed that everything is going to be okay and that the baby will flip. Not much longer now and we will have a little Lorelei or Thomas in our arms. We are excited and nervous, but we are as ready as we can be.

New Camera and Bathroom

I decided to buy a new camera since we have a baby coming soon. Our old camera was unreliable and the screen on it was broken (thanks to me); however it was less than $50. I bought a Nikon Coolpix and so far we like it. It was hard spending the money, but I want to have a camera available when I go to the hospital and not have to worry about batteries or the pictures not taking. We also spent money on fixing up our second bathroom. Rob's cousin came down and tiled the shower for us and is going to come back and finish within the next month. This is how the shower looks after the work he has done so far.

We should have taken before pictures, but we didn't get the camera until after.
Rob was enjoying taking pictures this morning before church of my belly at 35 weeks. I feel huge, but some people say I don't look too big. It just depends on what I wear. My brother Chris came into town and he hasn't seen me since I was barely showing, so he thought I had gotten big. I can't believe I have only five weeks until my due date. My dad and Rob are hoping I have a girl, but we'll see soon enough.
The middle picture is one I took of Rob doing what he does best - sticking out his tongue

Wisconsin

I am finally getting to our Wisconsin trip, which we have been back from for two weeks now. The drive was not as bad as we thought it was going to be. With me having to get out every 1-2 hours we thought it was going to be pretty bad, but we made it with 15 hours of driving time put in. We left on Friday June 27 and drove about 6 hours at which point we were in Corbin, KY (we later found out from Bryan that this is the home of Colonel Sanders). The next day we got an early start and made it to Bryan and Alison's (Rob's sister and husband) in Poynette, Wisconsin by mid-afternoon. We received the tour of the farm (side of house to left, Rob did not get a picture of the front) and then sat on the porch for the rest of the evening. Every day we were in Wisconsin we woke up super early because the sun was up completely by 5 a.m. On Sunday we went to church and then Bryan gave us a tour of Madison. We went to the zoo in Madison which was free. I forgot my camera when we went to Madison, but I have pictures from the rest of the week. Bryan had to work both Mon. and Tues. so Rob helped out with the horses on Monday, which I couldn't do because I had been advised not to get to close to the horses since I was pregnant. I basically sat around all day not doing much of anything, so on Tuesday, I was determined to get out. I didn't go all the way to Wisconsin to see cows, corn, and horses. We went to this place that was recommended to us by the native Wisconsonites called the House on the Rock in Spring Green which was about an hour from the farm. The picture to the right is what greeted us upon entering. The guy who built the place collected all kinds of stuff. He even had the world's largest carousel inside of it. Some of the stuff he collected was creepy, at least to me, like clowns and dolls. Rob liked the guns and there was also an entire section of boats that he enjoyed as well. In the boat section there was an actual size (or close to it) whale with a boat of seamen in its mouth. He had a bunch of self-playing instruments that were really neat and he had recreated an old street with all types of interesting things. He had a firestation, an apothecary, a taxidermist, police station, toy store, etc. I have a picture of the carousel that I'll post later. I had camera probelms and got a disposable for that and the organ room which was awesome. The room The most interesting room was the infinity room because it was built so it hung in midair.
The picture above is from a scenic overlook before going to the House on the Rock and if you look a little to the left you can see the infinity room sticking out with nothing holding it uplike a boat. Below is a picture of Rob in the infinity room at the House on the Rock. It had a beautiful view, but walking to the end of it I could feel it shaking.

I have a ton more pictures from the House on the Rock, which most of them are on facebook for anyone interested. It was difficult to decide which ones to upload on here.

Wednesday Alison and Bryan were off work, so we went to Wisconsin Dells to do some touristy stuff. Unfortunately I am pregnant and I was unwilling to go to any of the waterparks, which most of them are indoors since it is so cool there, even in June. I was in a sweatshirt and blue jeans most of the time we were in Wisconsin. I would have loved to go to any one of the waterparks, especially since Noah's Ark is the largest one in the nation. We got to the Dells in time for lunch and then we walked around downtown. It was a typical tourist trap. I did try squeaky cheese curds while we were downtown. They were strange at first because of the rubbery texture, but after getting past the texture they weren't too bad. Later that week I tried fried cheese curds, which were much better. They are sort of like mozzarella sticks, but somehow much better. Below: Rob and I overlooking one of the lakes at the Dells while walking downtown. After downtown, we went for a tour on the Original Wisconsin Dells Ducks. It travels by land and sea giving a nice tour of some of the lakes and trails in the area. The tour guides have plenty of cheesy jokes for the ride too, but we were in the back and missed out on a couple of them as well as some of the historical information. Our Duck broke down as we were coming out of one of the lakes and we had to wait for a new one to come get us and they had tow ours out. We had five or six other Ducks backed up behind us before we were rescued. (To the right: Alison and Bryan on our Dells Ducks Tour and below and to left: can you see the hawk in the rock formation). After our Ducks tour we headed over to the Tommy Bartlett show. The first half was geared towards little children, which Bryan and Alison said it was different the last time they had gone and it was much better then. It was supposed to be a lot of water skiing tricks, which there were some, but they had a show that went with it that was super cheesy. Fortunately we only paid 3 dollars to get in. That night we had dinner at the Prime Quarter, where you cook your own steak. It was a cool restaurant and since I had Rob cook my steak it turned out perfectly.

On Thursday, Rob, Bryan and I went for a hike at Devil's lake. It was steeper than I thought it would be and even though it took a lot out of me I made it up to where we were able to see the Balanced Rock (picture to left) We then had a flat path to see the Devil's Doorway (yes, that is Rob at Devil's Doorway). We finally made our way down where we saw the Potholes along the way. At the head of our hike, we had a nice cold watermelon which we had brought with us to the lake. It was a beautiful hike and I'm glad I didn't give up on the steep hike up. That night Rob's dad John and his wife Sandy came into town. We went to McGovern's where I had some hot wings. I was the only one able to eat the ones Rob and I were supposed to share. Alison and Bryan had gotten some mild ones which Rob had to steal a few of.

Friday, Alison had a horse show and it was a nice enough day for us to sit on the porch, so that is exactly what we did most of the day. Rob, John, Sandy and Bryan played euchre. I watched for awhile, but I was exhausted, so I went in and took a nice long nap. That night we met Alison for dinner where her horse show was. None of us had ever been to the town, so we picked a restaurant randomly and the food turned out to be delicious. Apparently every Friday night a lot of places have a fish fry, which I got the fish. This place was also where I had those fried cheese curds. Unfortunately after dinner I started feeling pretty bad. I was having sharp pains across the top of my stomach and in both sides and nothing I did helped it to disappear. It also didn't help that the car ride was an hour and a half each way with five of us in the car. When we made it back to the farm, I pretty much curled up and went to sleep awaking later with the pain still there. It was not as bad the next day and it eventually went away completely.

On Saturday, the fourth of July, we began by going to the farmer's market in downtown Madison. It circles the entire capitol building and it was huge. I have never been to such a great farmer's market. We bought my dad some cheese there and Rob and I bought all sorts of food items including spicy cheese bread, which is probably one of the most delicious foods ever, as you can see Rob's dad and Sandy are eating our bread, but it's okay because she brought tons of cookies and nifty flip flops for the girls.Later, we went to a parade in Pardeeville about 15 minutes from Poynette. It was a lot of fun and for the town to be so small the parade lasted about an hour and the kids and bags full of candy. Rob and I left later that afternoon to return home. Our trip was rainy all the way to South Carolina. We once again stayed in Kentucky overnight, but this time we were in Lexington and when we woke up it was still rainy. I was so happy when we finally made it home. The entire time I was in Wisconsin Rob, Alison and Bryan tried to convince me to one day move there and even though I did enjoy my vacation, I don't ever want to move there.

25 weeks

I am now 27 weeks pregnant, but here are a couple of pictures that Rob took of me at 25 weeks. I have been feeling fine so far. My first glucose test for diabetes came back high so I had to do the three hour test, where they take blood each hour. It was miserable because I had to fast until it was over. I was so hungry by the end and Rob was mean enough to eat Hardee's for breakfast and he waved his hash browns in my face. I think everything will come back okay, but I'll find out the results on Friday.
I have been slow on posting. It has been a quick first year together, but at the same time it feels like it has been ages. We have enjoyed getting to know each other, but it has not been perfect, which we knew it wouldn't be. For our anniversary, we went out to dinner at a local restaurant and just spent some time together. Rob had been planning my gift for weeks. He would make comments to my mom about what he was doing, but I had no clue. He stuck to tradition and gave me a piece of paper, which is what one gives on their first anniversary. However, on the paper was a drawing of one of our wedding pictures. It was so thoughtful and it looks amazing. We took it to Hobby Lobby and had it framed that week. It is now hanging on a wall for everyone to see. Here is a picture of it, which has a bad glare, but it was the best I could get.I also got Rob a picture, but his was much more thoughtful than mine. I bought him a picture of this tree that he had been wanting for months. He has yet to put it up because it is a long picture and he complains that he needs a level to make it straight.
We look forward to spending eternity together and seeing what ups and downs life has to offer. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens when kids get added to the mixture, which is only a few months away.

Nascar Darlington Southern 500

On Saturday May 9, Rob and I went to the Nascar race in Darlington. He woke me up at 7 because he was so excited for the race. I tried to get him to let me sleep longer because I knew we had a long day ahead of us, but he had been awake since 5:30 and couldn't wait for me any longer. We met his friends at the track at 10, where Rob helped them set up camp. Once they were done we walked around and bought some stuff, including two Dale Jr. onesies for the baby. Whether it is a boy or a girl, it is destined to be a Dale Jr. fan (even though I am a Kasey Kahne fan myself). We rested after walking around for a few hours. Rob was ready for the race. He was ready to go to our seats at 5 even though the race didn't start until 7:30. We walked around a little more with some other of Rob's friends and finally made it to our seats. The intros began and of course Rob had to get a picture of Dale coming in. Yes it is actually him in the yellow car. Rob took a couple of pictures of the wrong person before he got it right.
We were both excited for the race to begin and Rob as usual had to stick his tongue out in the picture we have of us. Our seats were right in front of the pits, too bad it was Jimmy Johnson and not Earnhardt Jr. or Kasey Kahne's pit in front of us. Although Earnhardt's was a little further back, it was still close enough for us to see it. We did get to see a record number of cautions for the Darlington track. 17 of them actually, which extended the length of the race and I was exhausted by the time it ended. I could have slept through the last 50 laps if I could have gotten comfortable enough. I was glad I didn't though, because Mark Martin rolled into victory lane. He isn't my favorite driver but I don't mind cheering for him. I like to see him win just because he is one of the oldest drivers in Nascar. Kasey Kahne led for a while, but after about 150 laps (or less), he had car trouble and ended up finishing around 23rd, better than Dale Jr. He was only in the top 10 for a few minutes. Rob was excited just to see 88 on the board. We had a lot of fun at the race and we can't wait to go back next year. Maybe we'll make it to one of the other races. Rob is dying to go to Bristol, Richmond, or Talledega.
This is a nice picture of turn 4 with the return of the classic red and white stripes at Darlington.

Baby Names

Because Rob and I are not going to find out the gender of the baby, we have had to agree on a name for each gender. As much as he lobbied for Dale for a boy (after his great hero Dale Earnhardt), I just could not bring myself to do that to our son. He also wanted John, but his father is John as well as his step-brother and my cousin, so it would just be too confusing. The only way I have been able to keep the name from being Dale or John is to agree to another family name, which is Thomas. I had my qulams about it at first because he has a cousin named Thomas, but we could agree on no other name so if it is a boy he will be Thomas Robertshaw Eynon. (For those of you who don't know Robertshaw is Rob's middle name and has been passed down for a few generations.)
Naming the girl was much easier. Rob had heard the name Lorelei on a song even before we were having the baby and it was decided that would be our first daughter's name. If the baby is a girl, she will be Lorelei Joan Eynon. (Joan is Rob's grandmother's name.) My mom does not like Lorelei at all, so if she calls her Lulu or some other random name that is why.
Now that we have decided upon names, we only have to wait to see if we are going to have a Thomas or a Lorelei.

Baby Eynon Ultrasound

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v20.nonxt4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dec4947e837b1c743%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331325827%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D4F45CEE4CC281C7784024B854B1CEF7D44ED8D56.7511259A06C92DF971192DD13E340CAD81F3F82B%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dec4947e837b1c743%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D2tBt9a5XvhcBTjTwLzs2FXIEti4&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

We had the baby's first ultrasound today. It was exciting being able to see the baby. It is six ounces at 17 1/2 weeks along. Since being moved from the lab I have a lot of free time on the computer. Usually I play games or surf the net but after four months that has gotten old. Not being in the lab is a definite downfall during this pregnancy. Apparently I am too efficient. They expected me to take much longer to do all the filing that needed to be done when I first moved upstairs. I do benefit from having my own office; however, it is visited daily by the big dogs because their mailboxes are in here as well as several filing cabinets. The other four people I work with share an office so I can't complain too much about that. At least I don't have someone looking over my shoulder when I don't have anything productive to do. By the end of this pregnancy I'll be dying to go back to the lab.
